On October 24th, Centro Cultural Aruande Capoeira will be holding their first ever Batizado event in Canada. This celebration of Brazilian culture will be a grand showcase of the art of Capoeira, performed by Toronto members of Aruande and esteemed guests from the United States and Brazil.
If you are unfamiliar with capoeira, it is an Afro-Brazilian art that combines martial arts, acrobatics, and dance-like movements, performed to the beats of traditional Brazilian instruments. It is incredibly exhilarating to watch, and the musical rhythms are energizing (just watch the YouTube video below to get a taste). I am a proud sponsor of this event, and I encourage everyone to attend this unique experience!
