From 2004 to the beginning of this year, I have had the fortunate opportunity to work at a fantastic real estate brokerage in Riverdale. During my time there, I was able to foster many wonderful friendships and professional relationships with the great staff and agents who contribute to its family-like atmosphere. However, towards the end of last year, I began to closely examine what type of support I need to help me best serve my clients. In January, I took the next step of interviewing some of the other brokerages that serve The Beach, East York, and Riverdale neighbourhoods to determine if any of these had all the elements of service and support that I was looking for.
After much careful thought, I decided to join RE/MAX Hallmark. Before joining, I had always thought of them as a well-managed and successful organization; their sheer size and continual growth alone were evidence of that. With eight offices and over 500 GTA agents, RE/MAX Hallmark holds a significant presence in the Toronto market. Having the branding clout of the RE/MAX name further bolsters their position.
So far, I am finding that being part of such a large brokerage helps my clients in several ways. For buyers, I am able to get a 'first look preview of a wider selection of homes for sale as part of our office tours that often occur in advance of the agent open house, and before even the very first showings occur. My home sellers correspondingly benefit from having their homes showcased to a large audience on these agent office tours. For example, one of my recent listings in East York was visited within hours of being listed by over twenty RE/MAX agents from our Danforth and Pape location (this home later sold within two days through a buyer's agent from my office). Sellers that I represent further benefit from enhanced internet exposure for their properties, thanks to the many RE/MAX Hallmark agents who have websites that specifically feature homes for sale that are listed through our company. For buyers and sellers, having this network of offices also brings some simpler conveniences, like the ability to choose from multiple locations for holding meetings or conducting negotiations. A few weeks ago while on a whirlwind tour of properties with one of my buyers, when it was time to take a break, we were able to stop at one of the offices in the area to grab a coffee and surf some other MLS listings on the office's giant LCD displays.
What probably impresses me the greatest about the organization are the many opportunities to share and discuss marketing innovations and operational best practices with others throughout the company. I believe that this, combined with the focused coaching and tactical training provided, truly helps elevate everyone's performance.
Needless to say, things are going quite well, and I am happy with my decision to join RE/MAX. However, I have to confess that even though I mostly work from home and on the road, when I do have to go into the office, it is a real 'bonus' to be able to walk a few blocks from my home in The Beach to our Queen Street East location!
